  • Prepare simple, affordable meals from scratch
  • Learn how to cook in bulk and turn one meal into multiple dishes
  • Understand best practice in food hygiene, as well as safe storage and reheating
  • Plan meals they can realistically prepare at university
  • Build confidence preparing and managing their own meals

*Each session includes cooking and eating the dishes prepared. The course is designed to be accessible for a range of dietary needs (please let us know requirements in advance).

  • Secure part-time work while studying
  • Balance work alongside university life

Practical Life Skills (DIY & Car Essentials)

(PPE will be provided where required)

Adventurer First Aid (Full Day Course – Thursday 30th July)

The final day is a fully immersive, scenario based First Aid course, specifically designed for young adults leaving home. This is not a generic first aid course - it focuses on real-life situations students are most likely to face, including university accommodation, social settings and travel. Delivered by highly experienced trainers (including a HM Coastguard Search & Rescue Paramedic), the course is hands-on, practical and confidence-building.

Students will cover:

  • Role of an Emergency First Aider
  • Primary survey, CPR and basic life support
  • Choking, airway obstruction and anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding, shock and drowning
  • Major trauma (head, chest, abdominal injuries)
