Academic Life
As you would expect, teaching and learning are at the heart of what we do. Our curriculum ethos is to provide pupils with experience of a wide range of subjects in Years 7-9, from which they can then choose their GCSE options, with further specialisation at A Level. Throughout our forward-thinking curriculum, there is an underlying appreciation that pupils succeed best when taught interesting and engaging lessons by enthusiastic, specialist staff. We want our pupils to leave here with valuable study skills, having found their intellectual and academic passion and having fulfilled their potential in that area. |

Pastoral care & Wellbeing
King Edward’s is a happy and successful school, with the social and emotional wellbeing of pupils central to all that we do. We get to know our pupils well and build open and trusting relationships so that the children who arrive in Year 7 can flourish in all areas of school life and develop into confident, thoughtful and engaging young adults. We value tolerance and kindness and work hard to develop resilience and independence.

“Pupils become curious, resilient, kind, compassionate and responsible members of the school community. They grow in confidence and develop a sense of belonging to the vibrant school community such that they are inspired to support one another. This is a significant strength of the school.”

Co-Curricular programme
King Edward’s School aims to provide a thriving and continuously evolving co-curricular programme by offering a broad range of opportunities for pupils. We expect engagement from pupils with our co-curricular programme, and our watchwords are breadth and opportunity. We pride ourselves on the development of rounded and grounded young people, and know that talents and interests discovered, nurtured and developed at school can help shape a future. |
