ADVENTURES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
At the Pre-Prep and Junior School, our co-curricular programme is vibrant, extensive and designed to enrich every child’s educational journey. We believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom walls and we offer an impressive range of trips, visits and clubs that inspire curiosity, confidence and a love of discovery.
Trips, Visits & Residential Experiences
Across all year groups, children enjoy a wide variety of educational trips linked closely to their curriculum studies. These include theatre visits, farm experiences and sporting trips to the University of Bath, as well as inspiring outings such as meeting a “real knight” at Cardiff Castle, trips to Stonehenge, We the Curious and exploring the wonderful Roman Baths.
As they progress, pupils encounter even greater opportunities. Year 1 explore local history through city trails, and Year 2 embark on major curriculum adventures, including visits to SS Great Britain and Sevington Victorian School, where they spend a full day immersed in Victorian life and costume. A highlight for many is the Year 2 one-night residential to Magdalen Farm in Dorset - an unforgettable experience where children build dens, feed animals and learn about food production on a working farm.
As pupils move through the Junior years, trips become broader and more ambitious. Regular excursions, visiting speakers and community partnerships enrich classroom learning and encourage children to question, explore and deepen their understanding of the world. The year culminates in an exciting Activities Week, taking children on adventures across Dorset, Devon and France for fieldwork, outdoor challenges and cultural exploration.
A typical week for a pupil at our School offers them a range of physical, creative, environmental, technological and many other challenges, through a rich programme of extracurricular clubs, teams and experiences. From building a kit car to race against other teams to restoring the habitat in our pond area, the opportunities are designed to appeal to all passions, interests and personalities
After-School Clubs & Co-Curricular Opportunities
Our extensive clubs programme offers something for every interest, personality and passion. From Reception to the upper Junior years, children can choose from art, cooking, digital animation, drama, fun science, gardening and a wide array of sports. Junior pupils also enjoy more specialist opportunities such as fencing, table tennis, gymnastics, chess and performance-based clubs that develop drama, dance and musical skills.
These activities allow children to stretch themselves creatively, physically and intellectually, and to discover talents they may not yet know they have. Whether building a kit car to race, restoring the habitat in the pond area or rehearsing for a concert, children are encouraged to try new things and take pride in their accomplishments.
