LEARN TO TOUCH TYPE - SUMMER COURSE
Give your child a valuable head start for the new academic year with this intensive touch typing course, designed to build confidence, speed and accuracy, helping them work more efficiently across all subjects.

COURSE OVERVIEW
With rapid advances in technology, strong computer skills are more important than ever. One key skill is touch typing - the ability to type using all fingers without looking at the keyboard. This enables students to work faster, improve accuracy, and free up more time for other tasks. It also supports better study habits and develops important coordination and self-monitoring skills. As typing is the primary form of written communication in education and the workplace, it is ideally a skill students should master by the end of Year 10.
The King Edward’s School Touch Typing course is an intensive programme requiring pupils to commit to 4 hours a day over 4 days. Sessions are broken up with regular breaks for fresh air and activity away from the screen. This focused approach is proven to be far more effective than occasional practice. Pupils will be fully supported by a teacher throughout, with progress measured using the Typequick Skill Evaluator at the start and end of the course. Two courses will run concurrently, and you will be asked to indicate your preferred option when making a booking.

Whichever programme you choose for your child they will retain their login to the platform for a full year from the start of the course. This can then be accessed through an internet connection on any keyboard device at home (or on the move!). In this way pupils can continue to improve their speed and accuracy in their own time.

COURSE SCHEDULE
Each day will be scheduled as follows (9.00am-3.00pm):
- 8.45 – 9.00am: Arrival & Registration
- 9.15 – 10.30am: Course Session
- 10.30 – 11.00am: Break
- 11.00am – 12.00pm: Course Session
- 12.00 – 12.45pm: Lunch
- 12.45 – 1.45pm: Course Session
- 1.45 – 2.15pm: Break
- 2.15 – 3.00pm: Course Session
- 3.00pm: Finish & Pick-up

Typequick for Students is a fun, interactive typing software for schools that is suitable for children from 11-14 years old. Pupils love the rich animation and characterisation in this learn to type software product. They are drawn into "Kewala's Amazing Keyboard Adventure" and forget they are learning how to touch type as they help the loveable cartoon character on his adventure in the Kingdom of Eaz. Ten easy and interesting lessons will teach pupils to learn to touch type with 10 fingers - an essential skill in education today. Pupils can extend and consolidate their keyboarding expertise with five additional courses to increase speed, accuracy, keypad and punctuation typing skills. Typequick Professional is a comprehensive typing tutor, featuring ten easy and interesting lessons to learn to type. This is a more no-nonsense approach which relies on the motivation of the pupils to beat their own targets and reach each milestone. Once the basics are accomplished you can then extend and consolidate your keyboarding expertise with five additional courses to increase your speed, accuracy, keypad and punctuation typing skills.
